Communication and visibility: EUAM discussed cooperation with State Border Guard Service
June 15, 2015 Kiev, June 2015. The European Union Advisory Mission held a meeting on 16 June with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The participants discussed further cooperation and the effective ways of communicating to the society the objective information about the activities and collaboration of the law enforcement agencies and European institutions, as well as the implementation of the European practices and world innovations.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant to the Head of SBGS, Oleg Slobodyan, EUAM’s Public affairs and Communications Officer, Victor Reuter, and other staff representatives responsible for cooperation with press and public.
It was pointed out during the meeting, that the development of the SBGS is focused on the European practices of border protection. Therefore, the proper coverage of this topic is quite relevant, especially in terms of the EU integrational processes of Ukraine.
The SBGS coverage of the cooperation with the EUAM and other European organisations, the implementation of the Border Guard Service Law Enforcement action plan were among the topics of the discussion. The participants identified new initiatives on increasing visibility and intercommunication of the SBGS. In addition, a complex of issues related to the development of the SBGS corporate image concept and the presentation of the Service to people crossing the Ukrainian border were discussed.
It is worth noting that the EU Advisory Mission primarily focuses on supporting the Civil Security Sector Reform, including Border Guards, in coordination and cooperation with other efforts of the EU and other international partners.
