How to find the Perfect Hire: EUAM concluded the series of training on Effective Interviewing Techniques for NPU

During October 2024, at the request of the National Police of Ukraine, EUAM organised and delivered a series of trainings on “Effective Interviewing Techniques” for members of the Police Commission of the National Police of Ukraine. Police commissions were established as permanent collegial bodies at the central level and in all regions of Ukraine to improve transparency, the quality of selection, and career opportunities for police officers.
The aim of the training was to provide members of the Police Commission with practical support in developing the necessary interviewing competencies of panel members that assess candidates applying for positions within the National Police of Ukraine. These tailor-made trainings were designed to equip commission members with advanced interviewing techniques, increasing their capacity to effectively prepare and conduct interviews to identify and select the most suitable candidates. EUAM experts guided participants through the roles and competencies required of commission members, emphasising critical aspects such as ethics, integrity, question framing, conflict management, and bias recognition. Theoretical insights were paired with hands-on activities, including mock interviews, role-plays, and video materials, creating a balanced learning experience.
“Effective interviewing is more than just asking questions; it’s about building trust in the recruitment process,” remarked an Joao Faria, Human Resources Reform Development Advisor and Trainer. “Our goal was to equip the NPU with tools and techniques to ensure that every candidate receives a fair and thorough evaluation.”
The practical exercises allowed participants to apply new skills directly. “The role-play and mock interviews were particularly impactful,” shared one of the participants. “They gave us a chance to refine our approach and better connect with candidates.”
These trainings represented another step toward supporting the NPU in enhancing skills and knowledge in the effective professional selection of candidates and further strengthened the partnership between EUAM Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine.
